What is Sand Therapy?

Sand therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses a sandbox and a variety of miniature figures and objects to create scenes that reflect personal thoughts, feelings, and narratives. Like drawing, it provides a medium through which individuals can externalize complex emotions and thoughts in a non-verbal way.
How Does Sand Therapy Work?
Children are invited to shape and mould sand in a contained space, using various figures and items to represent different aspects of their experiences and emotions. This process allows the child to explore their feelings and conflicts within a safe, creative environment.
Benefits of Sand Therapy
Enhances Emotional Expression: Provides a dynamic way to express thoughts and emotions without the need for verbal communication.
Supports Sensory Integration: The sensory experience of sand can help children regulate their sensory needs and enhance their overall sense of well-being.
Facilitates Creative Problem Solving: By arranging and rearranging elements in the sand, children can find new perspectives on personal challenges.
